Red sky at night

TENTERDEN residents witnessed a blazing sky display this week before a storm hit the town.

Nichole Watterson snapped this photo at her Yuelup Farms property, 18km west of Kendenup, on Monday night.

Ms Watterson said her children Brielle and Layla sat mesmerised by the red and orange sky and called out to her to get a photo.

“It was really warm and humid when the storm clouds appeared around 5pm on Monday evening,” Ms Watterson described.

“A gusty wind came up and there was a bit of thunder to be heard.

“Just over an hour later as the sun was getting lower in the sky, the clouds started getting darker and all of a sudden, it was red everywhere, everywhere you looked.

“The clouds looked like volcanic lava and it was really eerie, like on a scary movie.”

Ms Watterson said she had never seen anything like it before.

“After the sun set, there was a brilliant electrical storm that went on through the night,” she said.

“We unfortunately didn’t get any rain, but some farmers got too much.”
