McHappy Day for charity

RONALD McDonald House Charities (RMHC) serve a vital course for families with sick children, and especially more so this year with the impacts of COVID-19. Its largest annual fundraiser McHappy Day kicks off this Saturday.

Locals can head down to Albany McDonald’s and dig deep to support families in need by picking-up a pair of Silly Socks or a Helping Hand, or making a donation online.

Also, on McHappy Day, $2 from every Big Mac sold at the restaurant or via McDelivery will go to RMHC.

Albany McDonald’s owner Darren Tyrrell said this year in particular has been incredibly tough for families who have a seriously ill or injured child.

“All the funds raised for McHappy Day at the Albany restaurant will go towards supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provides a range of programs that make a real impact to the lives of families and children in their time of need,” he said.

The cornerstone program of RMHC provides a home away from home for families of seriously ill and injured children being treated at nearby hospitals.

The houses keep families close by giving parents and siblings the opportunity to stay together to support their sick loved ones.

RMHC currently has 18 houses throughout Australia accommodating more than 10,000 families annually.

Since the new house opened in Nedlands in December 2015, located close to all hospitals, 480 families from the Great Southern have accessed the service with nearly 5500 nights of total accommodation provided free-of-charge.
