ACTIV disability support customer Krysten Rozendaal is one step closer to achieving her dreams of running her own enterprise thanks to local business Albany Office Products Depot.

Having worked at Activ Business Services Albany since 2016 in the printing department, Ms Rozendaal wanted to expand her skills and knowledge about running her own printing business and enrolled in a Business Certificate II course.

As part of her course, she took a workplace tour of Albany Office Products Depot for a more in-depth insight into the industry, where her eagerness to learn granted her the chance of a two-month work placement.

“They were really happy to have me on board for December and January,” Ms Rozendaal said.

“I’m doing some packaging, restoking the shelves, and packing up school orders. Restocking the shelves is really fun.”

Albany Office Products Depot Sales Manager Sam Slater spoke highly of Krysten, and of the store’s decision to provide opportunities for people living with disability to grow their independence.

“It’s been great having Krysten on the team, she’s a great worker and she’s really helped us out. Krysten works really quickly and we love that she’s eager to learn,” Mr Slater said.

“If other local businesses are considering offering work experience to students living with disability, I’d absolutely say go for it. It’s great to be a part of someone’s skill development in the way that we’ve been a part of Krysten’s.”

The work at Activ Business Services and experience from Albany Office Products has helped Ms Rozendaal to fulfil her dream of becoming more independent at work and one day run her own printing micro-enterprise.
