THOUSANDS of dollars raised at an Albany church’s inaugural Christmas festival has been donated to a local fire brigade.

Living Water Anglican Church hosted the Spring into Christmas Fair last month and fundraised just over $4,500.

Senior Minister Shane Marques said every cent would go to the Kalgan Volunteer Bushfire Brigade.

He thanked the Albany community for their kind donations.

“We are very conscious of the significant commitment and sacrifice of our volunteer bush fire fighters; we thank God for them and the great work they do,” Mr Marques said.

“The brigade is in need of a new shed – we realise that this donation is a drop in a bucket really – but it’s a drop nonetheless.”

Kalgan Volunteer Bush- fire Brigade President Grant Solomon said the plan is for the Brigade’s current three sheds to be replaced with one bigger depot.

The broader project has been costed at approximately $550,000, of which the Brigade has raised $160,000 so far from the sale of a charity house build in Oyster Harbour.

Mr Solomon was grateful for the Spring into Christmas Fair donation.

“It’s wonderful what the community has done,” Mr Solomon said.

“My thanks goes out to everyone in a big way.”
