SINGERS from across the Great Southern have been asked to throw their hats in the ring to be part of an intercultural singing and performance project in Perth.

By Other Eyes will be performed at Perth Concert Hall on May 16 this year and feature the support of the UW A Conservatorium of Music Symphony Orchestra.

Led by international artist Matt Ward, By Other Eyes premiered at the Field of Light in 2018 as part of Albany’s Anzac centenary commemorations.

Singers will be joined by Albany soloists Jarrad Inman, Sheyan and Shantay Tidswell, William and Maggie Staude, Thomas Croucher and Rachael Colmer.

“A central theme to the project was acknowledging the contribution of Aboriginal servicemen,” Ward said.

“The themes explored in the project transverse all cultures and ages; a yearning for homeland, a shared love of family and country, and the need to belong.”

The new recruits will also join a cast of 400 singers for the Perth Concert Hall show.

Individuals of all ages and singing skills are invited to register their interest to sing in the choir by calling Vancouver Arts Centre on 6820 3740 or by emailing arts@ albany.wa.gov.au
