A COLLECTIVE of Great Southern artists have joined forces to create a new work and are hosting workshops next week to find other people interested in joining.

Breaksea, a team that includes Matt Ward, Rachael Colmer, Jonathan Brain, Pia Harris, Rob Castiglione, Mand Marky, Rita Bush, Eliza Woods and Jon Doust, will hold a Zoom information session and miniature workshop on August 26 from 6.30-7.30pm.

The workshops will go into further detail about Breaksea’s new project, View from the Magpie’s Nest.

Artistic Director Matt Ward said anyone interested in learning how a new work is created or who want to be part of shaping a new work based on stories of culture, identity, diversity and collaboration were welcome.

“This project brings together some top local artists and experts with performance experience in London, New York, Sydney and Melbourne,” he said.

“Being able to create a new community performance work collectively is a great way to develop skills and create a positive shared future in our beautiful Great Southern.”

View from the Magpie’s Nest workshops will take place between September and December across Zoom and in Albany, Denmark and Mount Barker.

It will culminate in a public display of selected scenes of the project at Albany Entertainment Centre, Fremantle’s Kidogo Arthouse and in Denmark.
